ABOUT ME

I am an artist who finds meaning in participating and sharing it with others. Art was a way of dealing with emotions which translated into healing in a present continuous process that is a part and cause of my growth as a person and member of society. I love painting because it allows me to be myself without judgment and gives me the opportunity to allow others to be themselves as well. This vulnerability feels safe and gives me joy to share with others.

When working with others, I strive to communicate their emotions through pieces of artwork. When experiencing art, one is communicating with the unseen part of the subject, making the exposure to the work multidimensional. My work focuses on healing, justice, and self discovery. Sharing this message with all affirms my belief that knowledge has the power to amass more people on the journey. When one person is transformed by their experience with my work, the ripple effect will result in a healing, just and self-aware society.

Educational Background

Right after high school I pursued a Diploma in Counselling Psychology at the University of Nairobi.  After two years of  academic excellence and half a year of practice, I was lucky to be among the people chosen for the  International Women Leaders scholarship program. The scholarship was awarded to a number of girls around the world who were in leadership positions in their communities through the ELCA. I  transferred to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art. I perceive learning as a never ending process that is on going and I intend to  keep learning and pursuing education in all ways possible.
